Alternative Provision Sessions
With a background in education and ten years experience within the primary school sector, we are more than aware that there is a growing need for alternative learning provisions. Many children struggle to sustain learning within a traditional mainstream school setting for a variety of reasons. At Muddy Feet we offer a unique learning environment and an alternative curriculum which supports holistic development of each individual child.
All sessions are run by an experienced and qualified Level 3 Forest School Practitioner, holding a full DBS check and Outdoor First Aid qualification, who has recently completed the Nottinghamshire County Council Coping with Risky Behaviours (CRB) training.
Our Forest School sessions take place outdoors, in our beautiful woodland sites, where children can immerse themselves in the natural world, offering a totally different environment to that of the classroom. Our sessions are child-centred, focussing on the social, emotional and mental health and well-being of each individual as well as enabling them to develop a range of key practical skills. We encourage children to play, create and explore within our natural spaces, helping to develop their emotional regulation, self awareness, resilience and independence. We support children to explore and develop their own interests through a range of activities such as knot tying, tool use, fire lighting and campfire cooking.
Our small groups of no more than eight children, enable us to foster relationships and tailor the sessions to each child’s individual needs and interests. Children must be accompanied by an adult, giving the accompanying adult the chance to develop their own skills in outdoor learning techniques which can then be transferred back to the school / home setting.
Our sessions focus on things such as; seasonal changes throughout the year, local flora and fauna, the importance of the natural world and traditional skills and crafts, meaning that there are several links to the curriculum especially in the areas of DT, Science, PE and PSHE.
We are running weekly Alternative Provision sessions at our beautiful site in Tollerton. These sessions will run for two hours and will follow the Nottinghamshire County Council term dates. The sessions must be booked in a half term block. Please contact us for more information
